Jep Castelein has a blog called LeadSloth that deals with lead generation tools for B2B marketing. As such, he has an obvious interest in webinars as a part of the marketing mix.
Jep just posted a mini-review (more of a general introduction) of Act-On. Act-On is an interesting supplement to WebEx Event Center. It was funded with private venture backing from Cisco. The idea is to extend the basic registration management capabilities of the WebEx Event Center software to encompass full demand generation functionality. So it handles email list management and mass mailings, lead source reporting, registration and attendance tracking, and integration with Salesforce.com.
I have been meaning to do a review of Act-On for ages. In addition to functionality that will be a big help for many companies, the interface and user controls are worth attention for their slick and innovative design.
Act-On joins Corvent’s Attendee Metrics Platform (AMP) as two supplemental technologies that give more power to marketers and event managers when working with large-audience structured web seminars. Both companies are actively working on better integration with a variety of major web conferencing technologies, but at this time, Act-On is at its best when working with WebEx. AMP is at its best when working with Microsoft Live Meeting.
And I need to hunker down and do a formal review of both of them! In the meantime, read Jep’s article for a taste of this new product niche.
