I see that Onstream Media got the Department of State contract to webcast the State of the Union Address tonight. That’s a chunk of online listenership! They are simulcasting in English, Arabic, Bahasa Indonesian, Farsi, French, Russian and Spanish. Yow! Follow-on archive translations will be available in Portuguese, Swahili, Turkish, and Hausa. Hausa? What’s that? I had to look it up. With about 22 million native speakers and another 17 million second-language speakers, it is used across Western Africa, particularly in Nigeria and Niger.
