This cracks me up. If you have the time, read the quiet, self-effacing, low-key pitch in Alan Bechtold's press release announcing the "Most Ambitious Live Video Web Seminar Series Ever." I have not run into Mr. Bechtold's name before and for all I know, he's a heck of a guy with many wonderful tips to relate. But the style of his writing in the press release and more so on the registration website it directs you to somehow scream "late night infomercial" to me.
Mr. Bechtold's premise is that web video presentations (which he defines as webinars) is "where the future of the Web is headed." He has organized a series of four marathon broadcasting sessions on Saturdays in April that will run from 11:00am to 7:00pm each day. That's a LONG time to ask people to sit in front of their computer screens. There are multiple presenters and topics and it's a for-fee event series. I'd be fascinated to see a report on attendance trends over time as the days wax and wane.
As a services provider in this field, I'm delighted to see any furthering of the good word and enthusiasm about the benefits of online web presentations. I believe in their value and have used them extensively myself and with clients. But it's the sheer hyperbole of Mr. Bechtold's pitch that brings a smile to my face. As he says himself, "It's well worth signing up just to see how to do what I'm doing correctly."
Don't tell him I'm giving away presentation tips for free in this blog. It would ruin his day.
PS: It's definitely worth checking out the details web page if only to see the glorious picture of guest speaker "Sydney Johnston, the AUCTION QUEEN." Plus, you will see revealed "for the first time ANYWHERE - the most important marketing tip you can ever learn." And as an added bonus, Mr. Bechtold and his partner will "take the wraps off of a project they've been working on together for nearly a year now, for the first time anywhere - and they will reveal to you how YOU can joint venture with them to capitalize on their new development that is guaranteed to shake the very foundations of the Internet marketing world forever." (Editor's note: I'd like to read the terms of that guarantee.) Remember: "All attendees during this very special event will receive a virtual RAIN of free gifts throughout this presentation."
