Last week, the "Big Dig" in Boston (miles of underground traffic corridors to relieve surface street congestion - a horrendous decade-long project) suffered a major setback when some 12 tons of debris collapsed underground, sealing off some of the main traffic arteries. Reconstruction may take anywhere from weeks to months. The Boston Herald today played it up like this.
