I saw a press release this weekend from True Conferencing. They have found a clever marketing hook for what is now an industry-standard offer of a free trial period to test out web conferencing software. They are tying the offer to the Fantasy Football craze that many of my friends and coworkers seem to go nuts for (I am immune for some strange reason). True Conferencing built a really nice landing page for their offer with good graphics related to the football theme and some brief but compelling ideas on how audio/web conferencing can improve the Fantasy Football experience for participants.
You can do a live action "Draft Day" in real-time with other Fantasy team owners. You can hold owners' meetings. You can use private chat to work out negotiations and deals. I haven't heard of anybody promoting web conferencing for this purpose before. I like it.
I salute True Conferencing for finding a clever new application for the technology that should offer a clear value proposition for many people who otherwise might not try the software. We need more thinking outside the box like this!
