Citrix Systems didn’t have very good news from a corporate standpoint on their latest earnings announcement. Revenues and income were close to flat from previous periods and the company announced a cut in workforce of approximately 10% of worldwide employees. That’s par for the course these days.
But as Charles Babcock wrote in InformationWeek:
“One bright spot is its online, collaborative products, such as GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar, which in 2008 represented 16.4% of revenue, or $260.1 million. The previous year, that category was 15.4% of revenue, or $213.7 million.”
I’ll bet Citrix employees are checking the internal job listings to see if there are any openings in the online group!
UPDATE, JANUARY 31: Looks like I spoke too soon. According to this news post on socalTECH.com, there were cuts in the Goleta, California Citrix Online division as well. There are no details as to absolute numbers or percentage of the unit's workforce. I'm sorry to hear about this.
