The fine folks at MediaPlatform, Inc. just published a guide to webcasting production best practices. I took a look and heartily endorse it. Although it is obviously focused on web events with live video and streaming audio, many or most of the tips apply just as well to PowerPoint-based webinars.
The electronic document starts with an overview of the webcast process and participants. This might be useful as a backgrounder for a new person on your team and certainly will give you a little more comfort on what you are getting into if you are producing your first webcast.
After that, you get five chronological steps to follow, each accompanied by a checklist of tasks that you can print out and use to track responsibilities and deadlines.
You’ll want to modify the specifics to match your own needs, but you couldn’t ask for a better starting point on organizing all the little things that are too easy to overlook or procrastinate.
Considering that they are giving it away in return for your contact information, it’s a heck of a deal.
