I just got an email from Dimdim. I am reproducing it here in its entirety. Just click on the small picture to blow it up to a readable size.
Wow. Five sentences and a legal disclaimer. That’s some great customer communications. The fact that there is no implied or explicit indication that they want to retain customers or move them up to a paid account makes me wonder if Salesforce.com bought the company for the underlying technology and leads list, with no intention of continuing the product as a separate entity.
I wrote about this in November when the rumor first came up. Now I’m even more cynical about the long-term prospects for Dimdim as a stand-alone web conferencing product. My gut tells me it is destined for use only inside the Salesforce suite. Time will tell.
UPDATE: Heck... I should have read through their FAQ page first. There's no question about it. Dimdim is done as a separate product. No accounts will be updated or renewed. Existing accounts expire at the end of their current subscription period. No refunds will be issued. That is all. Thank you and good night.
