It's time once again for one of my randomly timed summaries of recent news items in the webinar / webcast / web conference industry. As always, you can find all the latest news items and articles of interest on my industry news web page at www.webinarnews.info.
ON24 has been granted a patent for their Webcasting Platform 10 design. Long-time blog readers may recall how enthusiastic I was back in 2010 when the Platform was released and how I called it a "quantum leap in user configurability and control."
Microsoft will release critical security patches next Tuesday (June 10). One of the critical patches affects Microsoft Live Meeting 2007 and all versions of Microsoft Lync.
Onstream Media announced their Q2 financials. It's getting harder to find performance figures for standalone webcasting companies since so many have been gobbled up by larger multi-solution vendors, so this is worth tracking. Onstream reported small year-to-year declines in gross revenue for the quarter and year to date. But their net earnings (more accurately EBITDA if you know what that means) and gross margins were up for both the 3- and 6-month periods.
Venture capitalist and financial writer Sramana Mitra published a column focusing on her analysis of Marketo and publicly urged them to acquire ON24. Interesting.
If you are a vendor with interesting news about the web collaboration industry, make sure to put me on your press list so I can help share your releases with my readers.
